The day is finally here – your bridal shower, that is!
While it may not be your wedding, it is a sign that you’re one step closer to marrying the man of your dreams and celebrating your newlywed-ness during your honeymoon. When I was preparing for my bridal shower, the one thing I was frequently searching for was “what to wear.” I mean what DO you wear to an event that you didn’t plan and may not be 100% sure of the dress code for, right?
If you have no idea what to wear, I have some suggestions for you that may help narrow down your choices.4 Foolproof Ways to Look Amazing for Your Bridal Shower Click To Tweet
1. Something comfortable:
While you might be tempted to rock new heels even though you’ve never worn heels before, you might want to stick to something that’s a little more comfortable. Why yes, there will be times during your bridal shower that you will be sitting, there will be plenty of time where you will be standing up, walking around, and greeting guests. Also, for the introverts out there like me, being the center of attention isn’t really something I’m comfortable with, so add another layer of discomfort by wearing something too tight or too high, would only make me anxious.
When picking an outfit for your shower, I would recommend wearing something that’s breathable or something you can at least walk in without feeling like you’ve been wrapped in plastic wrap. For your footwear, wear something that you could see yourself comfortably doing those things in without any show pain or discomfort. If you really want to wear heels, I would recommend bringing an extra pair of cute shoes just in case.
2. Something new:
If you can afford it, I would definitely recommend that you get something new to rock for your bridal shower. Even if it’s an accessory such as a necklace or earrings rather than a dress or a new outfit, it’s nice to have something new on such an exciting day!
My “new” items were an off-the-shoulder white top, army green pants, and a new blush-colored necklace that I got for under $30! Sure it wasn’t my bridal colors, but I did have the something white. 😉 Which brings me to my next suggestion!
3. Something white (or similar to your wedding colors):
In my researching (A.K.A Pinterest pinning and Googling), I learned that while it’s not a mandate, it is recommended that you wear something white for your bridal shower. The primary reason for this is because you’re the bride and there is nothing that screams bride more than the color white.
However, if you’re what some would call an “off beat bride” and you aren’t going for traditional colors, maybe you could wear your wedding colors. For example, if I didn’t find the white, off-the-shoulder top I wore, I would’ve probably worn a blush pink dress, wine and gold colored accessories. If your colors compliment each other, why not wear those colors instead of wearing the traditional white? It is recommended that you wear either white or your wedding colors, so you can stand out on the day of your bridal shower.Looking for ideas for what to wear to your bridal shower? 4. Something YOU:
I’m not going to lie, I was very tempted when looking for an outfit to wear to the bridal shower to rock something that was totally not what I would usually wear. There’s nothing wrong with getting dressed up for your bridal shower, but if you’re not one to wear bright colors and high heels, don’t feel compelled to. Wear what YOU feel comfortable wearing and enjoy your shower!
Although this isn’t a numerical tip, another foolproof way to look (and feel) amazing on the day of your bridal shower is to simply be you! Adding onto the previous tip, you should not only wear what you feel like “you” in, but it’s not what you wear that makes you amazing. It’s who you are on the inside that makes you the most beautiful.
If you’re a believer in Christ as well, we know it’s not who we are on the inside, but Who created us that defines our identity and He says we’re fearfully and wonderfully made.
Ultimately, it’s not the clothes that make you amazing and friend, I know you’re going to look amazing on the day of your bridal shower, regardless!
