Lately, it’s been so hard to blog because I’ve been so busy transitioning from my former position and into my new one. I know that things are only going to get more hectic, so I’m working on trying to schedule out time so that I continue sharing some posts on this space without it impeding with my ability to teach.
I know I missed last month’s “currently” post, but I’m hoping that this post will catch you up on what’s going on the past couple of months! I also shared some deets in my newsletter last month, however, so feel free to subscribe if you’re ever curious to know what’s going on behind the scenes!
Lesson Planning: While I’ve been so blessed to have had a teacher who was formerly in this role be so organized, I still have to lesson plan based on the curriculum she’s left behind. Lately, I’ve been trying to get into a realistic routine that allows me to grade, lesson plan, blog, and still have time to enjoy life and participate in self care. The struggle is real as I know many of my fellow teachers can relate to.
Scheduling Posts: When I do have time, I try to schedule as many blog posts as I can. Of course as much as I love blogging, teaching comes first for me, so I’m trying to schedule out what I can ahead of time, so that I can spend more time continuing to engage with all of you lovely people as well.
My husband’s birthday: My husband’s birthday is coming up in a few days, so I am currently planning some things to celebrate. Things have been a bit tight financially, so I’m hoping that he’ll like the surprise I have for him!
Vacation time: I know, it’s very strange to be already considering vacation time when the school year just started. However, my cousin is graduating high school this year, so I’m hoping to be able to take some time to celebrate him during that time. With my schedule changing this year as a teacher, I have to consider these things ahead of time in the event that I need to take off. It’s a big deal for my parent’s and I since I used to babysit him when he was in diapers and now he’s preparing to go to college. I’m honestly so proud of him.
To take better care of myself: I literally feel like most days I run on coffee, which is not healthy. Between my dietary choices lately and my lack of water intake, I really need to slow down and make sure that I’m taking time to exercise and eat properly. Speaking of…
Drink more water each day: As a teacher, it should be interesting to see how this plays out. If you’re a teacher, you know we’re in a unique position in that we don’t have the luxury to get up and go to the bathroom very much so we have to be careful not to drink too much water while we’re teaching. I’m going to drink water anyway as I believe it would help solve some of the physical problems I’ve been having, recently.
Documentaries about North Korea: With all of the tension going on in the world, I’ve found myself lately becoming very curious about the country that’s very isolated from the rest of the world. Not to mention, my husband’s grandmother (who passed away last December), was born in North Korea and left before the regime took over.
90 Day Fiance: Please tell me I’m not the only one who loves this show? I love love and I find it so fascinating learning about the very costly process people go through to be with the ones they love. Lately, I’ve been watching the spin-offs that came from this series and they’re also pretty interesting.
Trey Kennedy videos: Trey Kennedy is one of my favorite online comedians. Not only are all of his videos clean and therefore videos that I could easily watch without worrying that my students will see them, but they’re really funny. I’ve watched his videos before, but recently I’ve been watching them with my husband again.
1Q84: This book is probably well over 10 years old and although I’ve had this book for a while, I NEVER finished. Yes, shameful, I know, but it’s something I’m working on. I love dystopian novels so I am looking forward to finally finishing this book.
How to Find Rest if You’re Anxious All the Time: It’s no secret that anxiety is something I struggle with. It’s not something that I shy away from admitting on this space, but it’s not something that I gloat about either for obvious reasons. It’s exhausting and it sucks when people consistently minimize it to “you’re just not praying hard enough.” I love that instead of trying to dismiss anxiety, Megan encourages us to find rest in the midst of it. I’m looking forward to trying some of these!
How to Style a White Tee: I love basic tees and adding accessories to them! I loved Kristen’s suggestions in this post and her outfit! It’s something that’s casual yet stylish!
DIY Rock Pets: This is something I’d totally love to re-create in my classroom! It goes perfectly with my classroom theme and is super easy to do!
Reasons Why Teachers Love Target: Target is one of my favorite stores to visit for teaching items and classroom decor. Recently, I’ve noticed that I am not alone in my love for shopping at this place for all of my classroom goodies. I shared some of the reasons why teachers love Target in this post.
Girl Chat: So, I’ve started a series on the blog titled “Girl Chat” which is intended to encourage and inspire my fellow ladies who may be in need of some uplifting words. I share a lot of these as led and shared a post recently that was a really hard one to initially share because it’s so personal. I struggled and still struggle with body image, so I wrote a post encouraging us all to really be confident in how we’ve been beautifully made.
DIY for Minimalists: I’ve grown to love Printiki! It’s service is one that I would recommend because it’s super easy to use and has come in handy for one of the DIY displays I’ve been really wanting to do. I’m looking forward to doing more using this service in the future!
Modest Skirts: I love wearing skirts in the classroom, but sometimes it’s hard to find nice skirts that are an appropriate length for my height and body shape. Their either way too long to the point where they’re dragging on the floor or they’re way too short. If you have any recommendations, feel free to send them my way.
Colour Pop Lippie Stixs: I love Colour Pop and I’ve been on the hunt lately for some new lipsticks to wear during the fall months.

It’s been a challenging season and a stressful week, but my husband who is the king of spontaneity, decided that for our date day we should go to the beach. It was completely unplanned, so we weren’t properly dressed or prepared, but it was nice to wander around until sunset. Also, my shirt reminds me of a strawberry donut with sprinkles 😂🍩
You’re beautiful, cherished, loved, and valued. Please never forget that – even when society tries to say something different. Your beauty goes beyond what’s external friend. 💕😍 Body image is something I’ve wrestled with for as long as I can remember and I can’t wait to share a post this week on this very topic. In the meantime and in-between time, I hope you’re having a lovely Sunday!
What are you up to this month? How was your August?
