I cannot believe this year is already over. I know I can’t be the only that feels like this year has flown by. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was celebrating 2018 and now we’re beginning to ring in 2019 – 10 years after I graduated high school. Whoa!
There’s a lot that happened in 2018 and while there have been some really hard times that have brought about some intense grief for our family, there have been so many exciting and joyous things that occurred. I figured it would be nice to celebrate those things in this post, but writing 12 things I am proud of that happened this year.
My husband and I got a gym membership together. Although we didn’t stay with them gym for long, I felt it was pretty big of us to take the plunge together and finally get a membership to a local gym.
New Baby on the Way
I found out my brother and sister-in-law were expecting! Happiest brunch ever!
Looking for Homes
We started looking for a home during the month of March. We had been looking before, but I would say March was when things picked up because we stumbled upon a realtor. At this point, we weren’t intending to buy right away, but said we’d start looking since for some people looking for a home can take as long as a whole year! If you’re looking for a realtor, I would definitely recommend ours. He was honest and super helpful.
We Found a Home!
We found a house and began the process of owning a home. What?
We Closed on the House and Went to a Wedding!
We closed on our house! May was a fun-filled and very eventful time for us because it was the month when we finally became homeowners. What a process that was, but we’re grateful to have witnessed God’s movement in each part of it. Two of our friends got married this month, also, which resulted in us also getting to see my uncle!
We Went to a Wedding and I Got a New Job!
Although I left my lovely students who were such a joy to teach, I transitioned into a role that fits what my long-term goals are in education! I still miss my middle school kiddos that I taught, but am really enjoying my new role as well! Another friend of ours got married this month!
We Started Decorating Our Home!
We started decorating our house a bit more and starting to get some more accents that felt more us. One of my favorites was our purchase from Hobby Lobby!
We Booked Our Anniversary Trip!
We were back and forth about whether wanted to go on a trip for our anniversary this year, but figured that since we had not gone on a trip with just us for a little while, we’d go on a quick weekend trip to New Haven! It was one of our favorite trips to date and we ended up doing a lot of things!
My Nephew Was Born!
My baby nephew was born! He’s honestly the most precious baby boy I have seen and I am so excited to watch him grow! I also started Korean classes for the first time ever.
We Switched Gyms
My husband and I started going to our new gym, LA Fitness! I was back and forth about it, but it came down to the fact that I really missed spinning and wanted to participate in classes that Planet Fitness did not provide. We switched over the summer, but didn’t actually go until October because of some circumstantial things – including me getting my wisdom tooth removed.
We Traveled to New Haven and I Gave a Speech in Korean
My husband and I traveled to New Haven during this month, which was one of our favorite trips to date! I also gave a speech in Korean for a Korean speech contest which was both scary and exciting. It totally wasn’t planned and was a bit scary, but I’m glad that I did it because it forced me to really dive deeper into my language studies. I’m not sure if I would do it again, though.
I also got to spend a LOT of time with family during this month, which made my heart really happy. My husband and I are both big on family, so it was nice to be able to spend time with both sides.
I Purchased a Macbook
After quite a few months of dealing with my former computer, which began not allowing me to do crucial things such as update my computer, I purchased a new one. I’m always nervous about it because it’s such a big purchase, but it’s one that I am so far really pleased with since it needed to get done. I purchased a Macbook Air, which is a bit lighter than my former laptop, but it’s so much faster and I can update my software! Yay for not potential threats!
Now that I’ve shared what I am proud of accomplishing and some exciting things that happened this year, I feel like now would be a good opportunity to do a survey, because I have not done one in a while. I may not have the largest audience, but I really value you all – even those of you who read but do not comment often. I see you and I appreciate you and what you have to say.
If you have five minutes to spare this busy holiday season, I’d love for you to share with me your thoughts about this space. What do you love about this blog or what do you hope to see more of?
What are some things that you’re proud of or looking forward to?
