Is it already the last Friday of the first month of 2019?
Eventually, I’ll stop saying “is it already” until June when we’re halfway into 2019.
I’m thankful to say that so far, I’ve been consistent in working towards some of the goals I had set for the month. I think part of the motivating factor is I am currently changing my dietary habits for health reasons, so it’s like I either follow doctor’s orders and change those habits or the issue with my back gets worst. It’s nice because it’s something I have been wanting to be consistent about for a while now, but I am hoping I will start to see some results sooner than later!
Additionally, I am in the process of preparing for some photographs my husband and I are taking sometime in the spring. We have been wanting to take new photographs together for a while so we can give some updated shots to our family and this one we’re hoping to include some cool little personal things in them. I would say more, but I don’t want to spoil it or say too much because I don’t know if all is going to go as we planned. However, it’s something we both have been wanting to do for a little while and we’re excited to be able to share it soon!
Halo Top Ice Cream: I’m not sure why I am just now trying their ice cream, but it’s my new favorite way to indulge in something without the guilt. As someone you know, I have had to make some dietary changes for health reasons, which means that many of my favorite eats I cannot eat. I cannot even really have cheat days to be honest. Halo Top Ice Cream not only has dairy free options for those of you who are lactose intolerant or vegan, but their ice creams are low sugar and only 300-400 calories a pint! I like that I can eat a few spoonfuls without feeling afraid that I am cheating or eating something I’m supposed to be avoiding. I also love that I can recognize what the ingredients are and I don’t find myself going, “what is that?”
Melissa’s Soy Chorizo: I LOVE this soy chorizo! I’m not vegetarian or vegan, but I am slowly trying to expand what I am eating so that I don’t feel like I have to have eat all of the time. Maybe one day but right now I LOVE eating soy chorizo! I feel like this chorizo is probably closest to what real chorizo tastes like. It’s seasoned well and it has a similar consistency to it once you cook it enough so it has a nice charr.
Truth About Millennials: There were some recent articles I read recently that talked about how millennials are actually the burnout generation and we believe we’ll die before paying off our student loans. As sad as it was to read these, it’s a reality that many millennials like myself face and struggle with. These articles were so refreshing because so often we get a bad rep for being the generation that “killed” this and that without considering why those industries aren’t as popular now. I’ll give you a hint, it’s not as superficial as you may think. For example, one of the reasons why many of us aren’t buying real diamonds (my ring is made of morganite), is because they’re expensive and we have other more important things to put our money towards. I still think the fact that millennials are struggling to pay off their loans and afford rising rent/mortgage and all people can gripe about is how we aren’t buying diamonds anymore is silly.
MIO: In an attempt to drink more water, I have been adding this to my drinks in hopes of making it taste like I am not drinking only water. However, I’ve been having to take breaks from it because I don’t want to become dependent on only drinking water that way.
Social Media Breaks: While it wasn’t really a long break, I did take an unplanned break from posting on Instagram for about a week last week. Between work and just life things, I felt really drained and didn’t have the energy to post content on Instagram, consistently. I also felt pretty lost in terms of creativity on my blog as well, but I think the break was God’s way of getting me to slow down and rest.
Eating Healthy: I have so far been consistent in being more mindful about what I eat and eating more healthy foods. If it all works out, I may share my methods a little later, but I feel like it would be unfair for me to share that information without knowing how effective it actually be for my health.
Increasing audience: Social media has been challenge because I’ve actually been losing followers as opposed to gaining a lot more. Most of them have been spam accounts or people using the follow/unfollow method, however. I also did an audit recently and my rating was 95% – meaning 95% of my followers are real people who enjoy my content. My comments and interactions are more than what is expected and I’m really thankful for that and all of you! I have been working on Pinterest a lot more and using some of the features there in hopes that it’ll draw some more content. Other than that, I’ve been focusing more on my blog’s content.
Bible: As a part of one of my goals for the year to read more scripture, I’ve been doing just that through the bible app on my phone. I try to aim for being in the word once a day by reading at least a chapter starting again with Genesis. I’m not expecting to do the whole bible in a year thing, but for me, I found that while I was reading scripture, I was reading the verse of the day or the verses included in the devotionals I was reading. While there’s nothing wrong with reading devotionals, I realized that I wasn’t really diving deep into the word because that’s all that I was reading and for the most part I wasn’t reading with a lot of context. I would read the devotional, read the verse and reflect, but by reading chapter by chapter, I feel I’m learning more about it in context.
How’s your week been going?
