Has anyone else been having an intensely busy past couple of weeks?
Perhaps it’s because a lot of things are sort of culminating around the same time, but I have been exhausted every day at the end of the day. I’ve been so exhausted that I haven’t really been responding to comments on the blog, posting on social media or interacting much outside of my close circle. I just haven’t had the energy at the end of the day.
I actually had a “Things I Loved in December and January” drafted, but couldn’t finish it. I had photoshoots planned that I kept rescheduling and a slew of other blog-related things that I’ve been kind of like “meh” about. I’ve just been in a bit of a brain fog when it comes to blogging because of it. Combine that with the various work events and personal life things going on and you have a concoction that includes me having little time for creativity.
As guilty as I feel about some of these things, I’m also realizing that it’s okay. Granted, there are things I need to get done, but given the weeks I’ve had, I have to be okay with rest. I have to be okay with having to step back from blogging or social media for a day or more in order to focus on some other things and be okay with that. That it’s okay and it’s healthy to spend time resting. That sometimes blogging will have to go to the back burner because of the other priorities ahead of blogging in my life and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean that I am any more or less passionate or excited about it.
I hope you remember to take a rest every now and then too, friend.
Lord and Taylor: I have recently discovered the amazingness that is the clearance rack at Lord and Taylor and it’s taking everything in me not to purchase a bunch of shoes that I do not need. I don’t ever shop there because the clothes are very much out of my price range, but the clearance prices are great for some high quality, brand name items. Click here to see the magic and hopefully you have more restraint than I do at the moment, haha.
Korean class: Korean classes started back up the end of last month and while I miss lazy Saturday mornings, I am so excited that it’s up and running again. I didn’t realize how much I learned from last semester until my teacher tested me and I did pretty well on the exam. That and my ability to read Korean characters have improved to the point where although it takes me a minute, I can regard hangul a lot better than before. I’m also recognizing the sentence structure a bit more, so yay for that!
Quaker’s Oatmeal: I loved oatmeal as a kiddo and recently I have been all over it. It’s low in calories, filling, and a nice meal for in the morning or for later in the afternoon. I love eating the Brown Sugar one with a teaspoon of peanut butter.
Kimi: I hesitated adding her to this list because of course she would be a favorite of mine because she always is! It’s like a given that family and friends would be my favorite parts of the week. However, this photo I snapped of her was too cute not to share so I thought she would be a great addition for this week’s Friday Five. I saw her laying on the couch and I grabbed one of our throw blankets and gently placed it over her. To my surprise she didn’t move, so I snapped a photograph (or five).
Weight Loss: Honestly, I haven’t been weighing myself because I don’t like scales very much. Therefore, it’s hard for me to really gauge whether I’ve lost weight even though I’ve been at this thing for a little over a month, now. I did grab a smaller size of a jumpsuit than I usually fit into it, so maybe that means I’m losing? As you know, stores are super inconsistent when it comes to women’s sizing, so it honestly could be that, but I’m hoping it means I am slimming down a bit!
I may eventually get a scale, but right now I’ve been hoping to lose inches more so, so I’m planning on measuring myself soon. I may share some more information about it in my newsletter in March since I’m hoping to see more of a change then.
Growing my Audience: I haven’t checked my analytics recently because I’ve been super busy, but I did notice that a few my pins have been doing really well in the last month since changing up my Pinterest pins and adding some to some of my evergreen content. It’s not 100k views or anything, but it’s more than I’ve ever had on pins so I’m super excited and joyful about that!
Exercising: To be honest, I haven’t exercised because I’ve been too exhausted and too busy. My back had also been bothering me, which was a literal and figurative pain. I’m working on trying to push myself to go – even when the weeks are insane because once I do I feel ten times better. Just haven’t had the time to. Pretty bummed about that and hoping to be able to be more diligent about it in the coming months.
