It’s finally spring and although I love the fall season the most, spring is a season I also look forward to because it means the weather starts to warm up and we no longer have to worry about digging ourselves of out mounds of snow.
As I mentioned in previous posts, in 2018, I experienced a bit of a style change where I began to finally feel I found a style that I felt comfortable in. I often use the term “preppy” because most of the items I adore and the silhouettes I love tend to fit within this genre of fashion. I’m not sure if I fit into any particular style, but I know that as I’ve grown, I’ve been slowly but surely getting rid of items that no longer fit me (physically or stylistically) and adding items that feel more me.
In honor of that, I decided to share some ideas of outfits that I am hoping to wear this year. Because I love organizing things in groups, I am going to be separating the outfits by occasion.
I will say that I do not own any of these items that I am sharing, today. However, I do own some items that are similar whether in shape, style or pattern to some of the ones that I am sharing in today’s mood-board. I am hoping that as I begin to get a better idea of my style that I can help some of you who are thinking of also changing things up a bit.
Frolicking Through the Fields
Aside from the fact that I love the way pastel clothing looks, it’s something that I think is perfect for the spring season. The aesthetic during that time of year is very colorful because of all of the budding flowers growing on the trees. However, I do not think I’ve arrived to the point in my life yet where I would be willing to wear all bright colors all of the time, so instead during this time of year, I focus primarily on pastels with hints of bright colors here and there.
For a Date Night or Spring Wedding
For date nights, I like to be dressy but somewhat casual since it’s rare that we go to fancy restaurants that would require a certain style of dress. In fact, I can count on one hand the amount of times we’ve been in a fancy restaurant and one of those times was because a relative was having an event there.
For me, I want to look as nice as I can, but I also like to feel comfortable in what I’m wearing. During the summer, I like to wear a lot of minimal florals ( with no more 3 colors in the design), brighter colors, blush pinks, pastels, and different hues of blue and green.
For a Day at the Beach
One of my husband and I’s favorite thing to do is travel and visit the local beaches when it’s warm out. I have not purchased a bathing suit in quite a few years, but my body has definitely changed since then. My weight has gone up and down, so I’m not entirely sure if I’d even be able to fit most of my former suits. This year, I am excited about grabbing at least one or two new ones that I can wear for our day trips to the beach.
