I’m not going to lie, this week has been interesting. Work things aside, I have had to really get creative to with shooting content since my husband works weekends and I cannot find a tripod that works for my camera. However, add the rain and my husband’s schedule it’s made shooting outfits a bit difficult.
I don’t think I say this often, but I’m really thankful for my husband’s support of my blog. He’s not a photographer and therefore doesn’t really enjoy it, but he is still more than willing to pick it up and shoot it when I need photographs with myself in them. He listens to me on those days when I’m feeling especially insecure behind the camera, so for that I am very thankful for him doing so. Maybe one day I’ll invest in a photographer where I can shoot a bunch of outfits or in different settings like once every few months or something.
This week, I did get some photographs done, which was cool and I have some blog posts that I’m working on for the summer. However, on the topic of blog stuff and “interestingness” I am in the process of trying to figure out how to decrease the amount of space usage on my website. It’s hard because I love all of my content, but new and old as well as the photographs, but I think it’s about that time that I part with some of my older content. That and I definitely need to do my best to delete the extra photographs I’ve uploaded and did not use. This will more than likely be a project that takes ALL summer because I am a picture hoarder, but it’s better late than never, eh?
I changed my Instagram story covers, finally. I changed them to patterns associated with my brand colors on the blog to make it look a little more minimal. Plus, I’ve always wondered if it was redundant to have the names both on the Instagram covers themselves if they’re also written below.
Speaking of Instagram, I am working on trying to use it more because crappy algorithm and frustrations aside, I love getting an opportunity to connect with you all. I’ve been engaging with posts a lot more instead of posting and dipping. I’ve been working on trying to be faster about responding back. Ya know – the little things to remind why I love the platform so much.
BLOG POSTS PLANNED:
As I mentioned above, I have been working on coming up with post ideas for the summer. If I am being honest, I don’t always follow those ideas but I like having them as sort of a blueprint or a starting point if I am really struggling with coming up with content ideas. A number of it is based on some of your responses from my survey and what you tend to engage with the most, so yay! They’re a mix of some fashion posts, some heart-to-heart posts, home decor, and some travel inspired posts, so I’m super excited.
Although I don’t really proclaim myself to be a fashionista, I love how certain outfits make me feel and when I find something I genuinely love and think you all would to, I like to share it with you!
I recognize what a privilege I have to have a mother who is still living and has been such a positive figure in my life. Yeah, we bumped heads during my preteen years, but I am SO close to my mom now and so thankful for everything she’s taught me. She’s the best and I call her for everything.
I was really happy to be able to spend time celebrating my mom, my sister-in-law and all of the mother’s this past Saturday! My brother and sis planned it at their home and it was really nice to spend time with everyone! I did have a post planned, but figuring I might save that for her birthday, instead, hehe.
I also got the cutest travel mug from my sister-in-law, which was so cute! I love Mean Girls and it had the “I’m a cool mom” reference on it, but instead of mom it said aunt! I absolutely love it!
My birthday is coming up next month and I thought it would be a great opportunity to spend time really reflecting on my blog, what you all like about it and what I hope for it to be. I know surveys can be a bit lengthy, but it’s really important to get an idea of what you all like, whether you enjoy the current posting schedule, etc. I am going to be sharing this survey sometime next month around the time of my birthday, so be on the lookout for that!
How cool is this pot? How convenient would it be for me to be able to fix everything I need in one pot, including anything I need to fry using an air fryer? I may wait a bit to get this, but since seeing this yesterday I cannot stop talking about how much I want one. It’s like a slow cooker, air fryer, steamer, and dehydrator in ONE device. Ninja devices are unmatched.
As mentioned above, I have been working on trying to make my site easier to use, working on doing some blog cleaning and also trying to work on my SEO. It is very time consuming, but it’s important if I am looking to grow my audience and be more consistent with my posting schedule. My views increased a little bit and so has my IG following, but I’d LOVE to increase my IG following to the thousands before the end of this year and my blog audience views as well. Wishful thinking?
People keep saying I’ve slimmed down, but honestly I haven’t seen it. As a result, I am going to try to be more diligent about snapping photographs of myself so I can actually see the progression, because right now I feel like I love exactly the same. Part of it is probably because my chest is large and so are my hips, so maybe that’s why it feels like clothes fit the same despite the fact that I’ve seemingly lost weight? I don’t know, but I guess it’s true that others notice your weight loss before you do.
What are you up to be this week?
