My birthday was this past week and I still can’t believe that I am 28. It’s weird thinking about the fact that I’m already 28 which means that 30 isn’t too far behind, but I am so grateful to be able to see another year of life. Now that I am older, birthdays have meant something different to me where I find them as being a great opportunity to reflect on the year’s best in hopes of becoming better and wiser than I was the previous year. I think each year, I am growing and when I look back on the previous year, it’s always nice to see on the ways God has provided for us and just all that has transpired with hope for the next year.
Originally for my birthday, I was going to do a giveaway or something to give back to all of you, but I felt that I wanted to wait until I had the opportunity and the funds to giveaway something a little cooler or participate in a giveaway that a lot of you would really enjoy. I will be participating or doing a giveaway soon, but just not for my birthday.
I do have a couple of posts coming out next week featuring one of my favorite outfits to wear this time of year and a heart-to-heart, girl chat post. I’m excited to share it with you!
On the day of my birthday, being that it was smack dab in the middle of the week, I actually did not do anything, which I was okay with! We may be doing something tonight because it’s Friday, because Saturday we have to get the car fixed (praying it’s not expensive).
Last weekend, I went to the Women’s Retreat at my church, which was really lovely! The theme of the retreat this year was about family and how family isn’t just reserved to our blood relatives but can include friends and our church. We had the opportunity to hear some beautiful testimonies and say goodbye to one of our elders who is leaving the church. She has walked with me through some very difficult times in my life and I am so thankful for her spiritual discipleship and always being willing to listen. She will be missed and it was a tearful few moments, but I think it was what we all needed to both grieve her leaving the church and celebrate her work here as she moves away.
THE SIMS 4
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, the Sims are a guilty pleasure of mine. I love getting to create different storylines that weave together and decorating homes for them to stay in. In many ways, I feel like the game is another creative outlet for me and during the Memorial Day weekend, when I wasn’t visiting family, I was checking in on my virtual families on the game. I’m biting my nails in anticipation for what I am hoping to be a new expansion pack soon (*cough* I hope it’s Sims 4 University *cough*), but until then I am continuing to play when I have the time to.
Maybe it’s because our summer vacation is coming in the next month or so or because the last month there’s been so many things that have left us feeling pooped (like the plumbing issue and now the brakes on his car), but we’ve been doing some more planning for vacation. We already know where we’re going, had the room booked months ago, but now it’s just planning out what we really want to do and locking down transportation. We’re driving, but he doesn’t really want to add a ton of miles on his car, so we’re renting a car for this trip. It is the only real vacation we’re planning this summer and it is a bit of a drive, so we figured that we’d rent it for the week just to be safe. This may change as we get closer though and we may end up canceling it, depending on how much the car repair will be. Meh.
Other than that, it’s all about planning out our main activities and going from there. While we’re away, my parents are going to be checking in on Kimi and the house periodically, which we appreciate, so we can enjoy our trip. We’re excited to spend time with each other and explore a new place we haven’t gone to before.
P.S – NEWSLETTER & BLOG SURVEY FEEDBACK
Some of your feedback has been rolling in, which has been really helpful for me as I try to think through some things I want to change up on the blog. I really appreciate your feedback and believe it or not, I use it to try to help me understand better what I need to work on and what things you genuinely enjoy.
I’ve already started applying some of the feedback provided to work on some things on the blog – including Friday Fives. Some of you liked the idea of doing it biweekly instead of every week, so I am going back to that format.
As for the newsletter, I have been working on trying to come up with some content behind the scenes, but it is pretty difficult. I think I get in my head a lot and think that there’s no way some of you would want to read about this and so I have a ton of drafted emails I never sent. However, I am hoping to get out my head more often, whilst also considering the feedback some of you submitted in the newsletter survey.
If you have not filled out the blog survey, I’d love it if you did! I’m always accepting feedback, so have at it if you have a few minutes to spare! It is really helpful for me and I’d love to hear from you!
IG: IG is still a hassle, honestly. I have been posting more and interacting more, but each time I’ve reached a follower goal, it drops back down because they’re spam accounts. I have been working more on changing up my photo editing, however as I mentioned in another post. I’m hoping it doesn’t mess up my feed too much, but I’m trying to make it a little softer and a little less sharp.
