Fun fact that you may not know about me is that I love to read. It’s something I have not been able to do as often, but it’s something that I always enjoy once I do. Maybe it’s the English major in me coming out, but I love how authors often write their books with symbolism and content that is intended to be analyzed.
There’s so many books I have started and not finished because then there’s other books that come out that I really want to read. I cannot tell you how many books I’ve started and ended up having to start over because I found myself being like, “who is this character again?”
However, this summer I am planning on not only reading more, but finishing up the books I have YET to finish in hopes of making room for a couple more that I hope to read during the year. I usually don’t share what I am reading, but thought it would be fun to share this with you in hopes for extra accountability.
WHERE’D YOU GO, BERNADETTE?
This book that is also now a movie is one that I purchased in December. I still haven’t finished it, but I am hoping to finish it up this summer. It’s in a format that I am not quite used to, but I think it’s growing on me because I genuinely want to find out what happened. It also keeps me on my toes because of the way it’s formatted and forces me to pay attention to every detail.
TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE:
I purchased this a couple of years ago and never finished. At this point I already know what happens, but I still want to finish it so I can start reading the next book in the trilogy. I don’t know how I’ve gone this long without finishing this book, but it’s truly shameful considering that I was almost done.
This book is another one I bought years ago to nourish my dystopian novel fantasies. I love dystopian novels and was originally drawn to this because I heard it was so good and because I heard it was a novel that fit that genre. I didn’t even get halfway through the book because it’s so large. Realistically speaking, I probably won’t finish this book before the end of the summer, but if I could start it up again, I think this would be a great read for the cooler months.
Books on My Wishlist
Something Borrowed: Something Borrowed tells the story of Rachel, a young attorney living and working in Manhattan.
Twisted Family Values: An unpredictable and entertaining tale of secrets, desires, and forgiveness spanning four generations of an American family.
The Mother-in-Law: Someone once told me that you have two families in your life – the one you are born into and the one you choose. Yes, you may get to choose your partner, but you don’t choose your mother-in-law. The cackling mercenaries of fate determine it all.
One of Us is Lying: The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars, One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.
In the Neighborhood of True:A powerful story of love, identity, and the price of fitting in or speaking out.
I’m Fine and Neither Are You: Honesty is the best policy…except maybe when it comes to marriage in this brilliant novel about the high price of perfection from bestselling author Camille Pagán.
Crazy Rich Asians: Crazy Rich Asians is the outrageously funny debut novel about three super-rich, pedigreed Chinese families and the gossip, backbiting, and scheming that occurs when the heir to one of the most massive fortunes in Asia brings home his ABC (American-born Chinese) girlfriend to the wedding of the season.
I also created a Goodreads account! I had one previously, but forgot the log-in information, so here I am back with another one. I’m hoping it’ll keep me more accountable if I can actually visually check off my books one by one as I finish reading them. If you have a Goodreads account, I’d love to connect with you! I don’t often talk about books on this blog, but I do read them and would love to chat with you about it on Goodreads! Plus I am always looking for new book recommendations.
